Cook on Wok, the Chinese restaurant at 390 N. Stephanie St. in Henderson, was shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District after a routine inspection on June 14.
An imminent health hazard — lack of adequate refrigeration — caused the immediate closure.
Cook on Wok demerits
SNHD inspectors found food unprotected from potential contamination, ineffective pest control measures, inaccurate thermometers, single use items reused and more for an additional 32 demerits during the inspection.
SNHD inspections dating back to 2012 resulted mainly in A grades with one B grade in 2012.
The health district conducts unannounced inspections at least once a year. Inspections are posted online about five days after the inspection. The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
