"Cuban, continental and Latin flavors" have arrived at the University Plaza and The Sugar Corner Bakery & Tapas Bar is already looking forward to a neighborhood expansion.
The former Roly's and Flomar Bakery corner space debuted last month, with an interior remodel, an eight-seat bar, bakery counter and casual dining room. The new, self-decribed "ever-changing" tapas menu includes their Cuban sandwich, croquettas de jamon, medianoche sandwiches and pastelitos de guayaba and pastelitos de carne.
They are keeping loyal to their bakery roots, creating custom cakes for weddings, birthdays and special occasions and offering Roly's favorites like their cheese roll and refugiados, a guava and cheese strudel.
Even while they ease into their new venture, Sugar Corner is already promising they will be expanding to the Boulevard Mall "soon" and in their current home will be offering cooking classes, teaching a range of techniques from knife skills to "how to think like a cook." An exact location or timetable for the expansion two miles north to the Mall, has yet to be revealed.
On Tropicana, daily opening hours are 7 a.m to 11 p.m.
