L.A.'s Dirt Dog had hoped to be serving nostalgic Angelenos an authentic "taste of home" earlier this year, but now the creators of the "ultimate bacon wrapped hot dog" have revealed a firm opening date.

Taking over a shuttered Cheeburger Cheeburger outpost in the Rainbow-Shelbourne Plaza, Dirt Dog will debut on June 24. The 2,700-square-foot casual restaurant, close to The Sparklings, has room enough for 100 in the main dining area.

Founder Timothy Cam launched the concept near the campus of USC in 2014. Their elevated street food menu offers variations on their signature dog, made with "100% premium all beef Nathan's 5/1 dog, wrapped in center cut bacon, topped with grilled onions & red and green bell peppers."

Sides include house made chips, "dirty fries" cooked in beef talllo and the grilled "dirty corn," crowned with crema, Cotija cheese, cilantro, bacon bits and chili powder, served with slice of lime.

Yet to be confirmed, if they will be bringing to Las Vegas their version of an indulgent Fremont Street favorite. Their home-base menu offers deep fried Twinkies and Oreos, "topped with fresh whipped cream and house-made fruit rainbow sprinkles."
