Asian-fusion Buddha Belly Deli debuted in Henderson with little fanfare back in 2014, yet quickly managed to generate a lot of heat for its inventive menu. But three months shy of its second anniversary, the deli has confirmed it will finally shutter for good on Sunday, July 24.
Located close to the intersection of the 215 and Valle Verde Drive, the counter-service concept was inspired by Hawaiian, Thai, Korean and home-grown menus, offering dishes such as their "Szechuan Shrimp Po-Boy," adding spicy Szechuan mayonnaise and pickled peppers for a kick and their "Pho Dip" banh mi-style sandwich, substituting a pho-inspired hot dip for a traditional au jus accompaniment.
They also gained a little infamy for their "Dragon Breath Fries," flavored with Thai chili, garlic oil and cilantro and sure to make a sensory impression.
While the owners express sadness for the departure, the exit appears to be without regret, explaining "the last two years have been an extremely rewarding and tremendous learning experience for us. We are truly grateful for all your love and support along the way."
Open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. , the deli is inviting fans to try one last dish before they depart. No replacement for the site has yet to be announced.
