The Sunshine Cafe, a locals' favorite coffee shop, used to promote itself as "Las Vegas' best kept breakfast and lunch secret" and now the team and menu behind the shuttered original have relaunched in a new destination that can truly be considered a secret spot.
The Sunshine & Tailwinds Café is open daily on the second floor of the North Las Vegas Airport, accessible via stairs and elevator. Stephen Maynard and Tara Gilbert have brought over their breakfast and lunch menu and also added a dinner selection. With the off-beat location come wide views of the airport runway and a clientele of aviation buffs, travelers and fans of the former diner.
Alongside familiar breakfast fare, heartier morning dishes are also available, like the $9.50 "steak & eggs with O'Brien potatoes" and their $8.95 "Pioneer Breakfast" that includes "3 eggs, potatoes, choice of sausage, bacon, or ham, and pancakes." For lunch, sandwiches, soup, chili and naturally wings, join their specialty burgers, like the "green chili cheeseburger and the "blue cheese and Port wine hamburger."
For dinner, specials include home-made pot roast, "tilapia fish and chips," spaghetti and meatballs and chicken Marsala.
