The remodel of the Redwood Bar & Grill revealed last month has worked its way through the City permit process and the California Casino & Hotel has now closed the steak and seafood restaurant during construction.
Guests are being directed to head across the street to the Cal's sister property, the Main Street Station Hotel, Casino & Brewery, where they have revived a lost dining room to serve their customers in style. The former Pullman Grille restaurant used to be the casino's nightly fine dining option, until it was turned into a private event space a number of years ago.
The Redwood menu will be available in the temporary space from 5.30 p.m to 10 p.m, Sunday to Tuesday and until 11 p.m on Friday and Saturday. The Grille will be closed Wednesdays and Thursdays. An exact date for the return of service at the Cal has to yet be revealed.
The Grille’s clubby interior is guarded by doors from the George Pullman Mansion and features an actual Pullman train car, a favored location for after-dinner drinks and cigars.
Elsewhere at the California, work continues on the major remodel of casual Hawaiian favorite Aloha Specialties, officially set to return on Aug. 31 and work on a new casino level sports lounge planned to debut later in the year.
