A local success story continues now that Sofrito Rico Authentic Puerto Rican Cuisine has officially relocated into a new, more substantial home and already has news of another expansion in the works.

A familiar sight at local festivals and First Friday, Sofrito Rico debuted its first permanent home inside a small outpost at the west side's Campus Common Food Court last November. Quickly earning a loyal following, the restaurant has now moved less than two miles east to the Red Rock Plaza, already home to the Afandi Mediterranean Restaurant and Hot Dog On A Stick.

The 2,000-square-foot former home of Streetcar Poboys has been redecorated with a bright red and yellow interior, but keeps the popular menu. Look for appetizers such as the $3 alcapurrias, fried tarot root filled will beef and bacalaitos, fried cod fish fritters. Main dishes include $9 carne frita, fried pork chunks, or the $10 carne guisada, beef stew, plus their $4 side of mofongo and another favorite with regulars, tembleque, their coconut custard dessert.

Sofrito Rico also revealed on Facebook the "next location will be in Henderson or close by. Hopefully next year."
