The shuttered blue and white Mad Greek Café facade was a familiar sight at the corner of Sahara and Durango for more than a decade, but now a chainsaw-carved bear family sculpture is the intersection's latest road marker.
The third local Black Bear Diner has taken over the 4,412-square foot corner café space at the Canyon Gate Shopping Center and also stretched into the 1,700-square-foot slot next door.
Well known for their generous portions and comfort food menus, the diner has operated at Tropicana and Jones since 2007 and in January of last year, the diner replaced a former Chili's Grill & Bar next to the Green Valley Library in Henderson.
Featuring a unique, outdoor "welcome bear" sculpture by artist Ray Schulz, the interior also includes custom murals and plenty of bear-themed accents.
The brand recommends guests try out their "homemade biscuits or our giant bear claws," homemade cobblers and heartier choices like meat loaf and pot roast.
And for fans on a Nevada road trip, another new Black Bear debuted inside the Max Casino in Carson City back in May.
