More changes at Montelago Village at Lake Las Vegas as the neighborhood dining scene continues to dream of stability and luring new and repeat customers to their cobblestone streets.
Bellamia Gelato has debuted inside the long-shuttered Tutti Gelati space, right by the lake. Gelato flavors include unconventional choices like panna cotta, "egg flip" and "crunchy rum" and looking ahead to cooler months, they are already serving pastries, coffee, waffles and crepes. Open from noon daily, the small shop is closed on Tuesdays.
Former Latin Fish chef Beni Velazquez, has officially launched his residency at Essence & Herbs, rebranding the former former steak and seafood restaurant as a "Tapas Joint by Chef Beni." Open daily from 5 to 9:30 p.m, Velazquez’s "eclectic Latin" dishes include tapas options such as the $15 Latin Cangero, created with Baja stone lump crab meat, the $13 mahi-mahi fish tacos and a $15 mofongo.
On the horizon, the arrival of the 6,440-square-foot RST Gaming Tavern from Robert Samuel Tibolt, taking over the former home of the Black Pepper Grill and Brooklyn's. The two-story project will feature a main dining room and "two separate bar tops with a total of 15 embedded gaming machines." The second floor will be dedicated to dining. As well as a patio, the restaurant will add 25 tables, 124 seats and 22 bar-stools. Live music is not currently part of their plans.
And earlier this year, Lobsterman’s Restaurant very quietly shuttered after less than a year in business. The Rockland, Maine, transplants were once confident enough to sign a 39-month lease on their compact 749-square-foot space. Serving lobster rolls, hot artichoke lobster meat dip, lobster mac and cheese and lobster pizza, the owners had shuttered their Maine location to commit full time to their new Las Vegas home.
