The Halal Guys have arrived from New York City, with the first of a planned series of casual local outposts serving their famed chicken and gyro menu, topped by their even more famous hot and secret white sauce.

The brand debuted as a Manhattan cart on the corner of West 53rd & 6th Avenue in 1990, quickly beloved by taxi drivers who also appreciated their late night hours, and word quickly grew of the unique taste combination of the meat, rice and sauce.

With the fame came the much-photographed long lines and a chance for global expansion. The Halal Guys are now rapidly franchising, with 16 current locations. They still hope to expand to The Strip and downtown at a future date.

Among the "pro tips" offered by the team to first-timers, order the combo platter, their "most famous dish. It's famous for a reason." Don't skimp on the white sauce, but take care with the heat of the hot sauce. Vegans should gravitate to their falafels and they are also recommending an item you won’t find at their Manhattan street cart, baklava for dessert.
