Sad news coming out of the Monte Carlo tonight. Andre’s Restaurant & Cigar Lounge plans to close in October.

"This October, Andre's Restaurant & Cigar Lounge at Monte Carlo Resort and Casino will be closing," according to a press statement. "The legacy that was built by André Rochat more than 35 years ago will continue; management will announce the next chapter for Andre’s shortly. We have enjoyed a fortuitous relationship with MGM Resorts International since Andre's opened in 1997. We look forward to the future and thank our colleagues and community for their ongoing support and patronage."

The restaurant plans to close after service on Oct. 5.

Andre’s has a cigar bar and lounge with a library featuring hundreds of Rochat’s cookbooks. More than 15,000 labels line the wine cellar, as well as what the restaurant calls "one of the widest selections of cognacs, armagnacs and after-dinner drinks in North America."

Rochat originally opened Andre’s in Downtown Las Vegas in 1980 with its rustic ambiance and gourmet dinners. He moved to the Monte Carlo in 1997, followed that by opening Alizé on top of the Palms in 2001.

In an interview with Eater Vegas in 2015, Rochat said he planned to step back from the business after more than 60 years in the kitchen.

Earlier this week, Monte Carlo announced that The Pub would close on Oct. 3 as part of the beginning of a $450 million renovation of the resort that bring the Park MGM and The NoMad Las Vegas in 2018.
