In December 2014, Urban Turban traveled 6,748 miles from their original Auckland, New Zealand, home to launch their second restaurant at The Park at 3900 Commercial Center on the east side of Las Vegas. Their next expansion will take a leap of less than two miles to a much smaller set-up at The Linq.
Urban Turban Express is self-described as a "kiosk" and will reside at the site of the shuttered NJOY Vaping Bar, across from cupcake store Sprinkles and the under construction In-N-Out Burger.
A final, trimmed down version of their Mumbai, India-inspired menu has not been revealed, set to be overseen by a new executive chef Tarun Kapoor, formerly of the Horizon Manor Hotel, Doha, Qatar. An opening date has yet to be announced.
Urban Turban’s first executive chef, Vijay Deokar, is also creating new ventures. Working with the Z India Catering Co. founded by Raj Singh, the restaurateur behind Royal India at the Rio Hotel & Casino and India Masala Bar & Grill, Deokar has debuted Curry Pot at the Venetian’s Grand Canal Shoppes food court.
Taking over the corner space, the fast casual menu includes items such as the $6.75 chicken tikka sandwich with apple chutney and homemade mayonnaise, a $10 masala dosa and an $8.25 bone-in tandoori chicken dish. A range of curries are served with cumin-safron basmati rice, naan bread and salad.
