The Commercial Center's Cornish Pasty Co. has announced their schedule for closing their successful, but compact, original home and moving to a larger space on Charleston Boulevard, inside a former fabric store.
The British-themed restaurant specializing in pasties, a traditional baked pie with savory fillings, will close at 10 p.m. on Sept. 11 and re-open in their new Arts District digs sometime in early October.
Upgrades at the new location will include more local and international draught beers, a liquor license to add cocktails and spirits and longer opening hours. Paperwork filed with the city prior to construction estimated a daily schedule of 11 a.m to 11 p.m and until 2 a.m on weekends.
Those same official filings revealed a plan to create room for 50 in the bar area and 145 in the restaurant. Featuring a central, open-plan kitchen, the larger footprint will also include a patio with access to the alley at the rear of the restaurant.
Looking to entice a different clientele than found at the Commercial Center, the team hopes to eventually add bike racks out front and have considered adding two pool tables.
