After almost 20 years at the Gold Coast, the Cortez Room shuttered in May ahead of a rapid remodel that has completely overhauled the interior design and created Cornerstone, billed as a "classic American steakhouse."
Scheduled to formally debut later this month, the former light coloring and woods have been replaced with a darker color scheme. Logic General Contractor LLC, whose recent work includes the Alder & Birch Steakhouse at the Orleans and the California Noodle House at downtown's The Cal, have been sharing updates of their speedy transformation.
Behind the bar, in the existing rectangular alcoves, Cornerstone will be hosting a "Whiskey Library," with the shelves already labeled "Aged," "Straight," "Kentucky" and "Small Batch."
Featuring a newly upgraded beer menu, guests are encouraged to arrive at 5 p.m. and sample their new cocktails during the daily 4 p.m. to 6 p.m happy hour. Dinner service will begin at 5 p.m. The Cortez Room served prime rib, steak and seafood favorites, while the Cornerstone menu has yet to be revealed.
