The past two years have been busy ones for chef Beni Velazquez. He opened Latin Fish at Desert Shores in January 2015, closing it weeks later. Then he changed that to Isabela’s in April 2015, and that closed last January. He kept that lakeside ambiance this month when he opened Essence & Herbs, a "Tapas Joint by Chef Beni" that serves Velazquez’s "eclectic Latin" dishes at Lake Las Vegas.

Now comes word that he’s involved in a new Italian deli and market dubbed Tony Bolonys opening this fall at Warm Springs Road and Durango Drive in Rhodes Ranch. It replaces Mac Shack in the same strip mall as SkinnyFats.

The restaurant plans to offer "high-quality ingredients for an elevated fast-casual experience." Velazquez, who once ran the kitchen at the now-defunct Bar + Bistro, conjured up a menu of pizzas, pastas, subs and salads, each with "chef-made" and "craft-your-own" options.

Beer, wine and classic Italian desserts also make the menu.

Glenn Plantone of VIP Realty Group is behind the restaurant, named for his grandfather, who was known for saying in his thick Italian accent, "Tony, you arra fulla bolony."
