Local developer J. Dapper of Dapper Companies will very soon begin work on remodeling the Huntridge Pharmacy & Soda Fountain, part of a series of multi-million dollar investments he's been making in the Huntridge neighborhood.
Another of his projects is creating Mahoney's Retail Center at the site of the former Mahoney’s Drum Shop, a short walk away from the pharmacy across Charleston Boulevard. Part reconstruction and part built from scratch, the retail center has been split into four tenants, with a 1,980-square-foot restaurant and a 751-square-foot outdoor dining area already earmarked.
Now, Bunnyfish Studio, one of downtown’s favorite architectural firms, has revealed Cory Harwell and the Simon Hospitality Group will take over the space. A dining focus has yet to be revealed, although the Bunnyfish design rendering imagines a Chinese-based concept.
The proposed restaurant is a little over a mile from Harwell’s first downtown project, Carson Kitchen and 17 miles north of his brand new venture, Standard & Pour.
Bunnyfish is also working on the retro-inspired signage for the Huntridge Plaza, home to the Huntridge Tavern, the pharmacy and forthcoming fast casual newcomers Wingstop. Dapper has made no secret that his plans for this neighborhood include personally taking over the long-stalled rebirth of the Huntridge Theater facing the plaza.
