About 25 years ago, Manhattan's The Halal Guys managed to create a legendary destination out of a food cart and after decades of catering to long, long lines of fans they will soon be opening their first Las Vegas expansion, part of an ongoing dream to one day operate 200 restaurant locations worldwide.
Their new Chinatown home is confirmed to debut on Friday, Aug. 12, at 10 a.m., with The Guys handing out "exclusive swag" such as limited edition T-shirts and chances to win free food, to the first customers.
Serving a stripped down menu of chicken, gyro and falafel over rice or in a pita, the Halal Guys "magic" white sauce and optional hot sauce has been a key factor in earning the business a devoted following.
Located at 3755 Spring Mountain Road, close to the intersection with Valley View Boulevard, the 1,752-square-foot corner space takes over the former On The Mat Fight Shop at the Spring Mountain Square retail center, already home to a Starbucks and Krung Siam Thai Restaurant.
Business hours have yet to be revealed, but that weekend they will be open until 4 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, the same late-night schedule as New York.
Warning guests to "EXPECT long lines and that crazy Las Vegas summertime heat," they are encouraging first day diners to "be safe, wear sunscreen and a hat." They are also advising first time eaters to order the "Combo Platter" and "add a lot of WHITE sauce, but be very careful with that EXPLOSIVE RED sauce (your mouth will thank us later.)"
