Remember when The Goodwich was going to take it’s little outpost in the parking lot of Dino’s Lounge and make it an incubator for future restaurants. Yeah, that’s not happening anymore.

Chef Felix Arellano of Viva Las Arepas fame, the restaurant that previously started in the space, now has more than just a second location on his mind.

He takes over the space to build out Pepito Shack, bringing South American open-faced hoagies in pork, chicken, fish or beef, according to DTLV.

Arellano got his start in the space in 2011, moving into his larger bricks-and-mortar space, now with a patio, in 2013. Justin Kingsley Hall’s TBD moved out of the space in May. He plans to work with Brian Howard on Sparrow & Wolf, opening in October in the Arts District.

Since, the Goodwich boys, who took over the space, moved into the Soho Lofts.

DTLV says that Pepito Shack opens at the end of August with "half-pound gourmet burgers and hot dogs" with prices in the $3.50 to $8 range.

Earlier, Viva Las Arepas cryptically announced they would soon be expanding to a second location, but withheld the exact location. Now, the secret is out, with new signage promising they are "opening soon" at the Mercado Del Sol Shopping Plazaat the southeast corner of Rainbow and Charleston.
