The Angry Butcher
Address: Sam’s Town, 5111 Boulder Highway
Status: Sunday to Thursday from 4 to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 4 to 11 p.m.
The Angry Butcher has taken over from Willy & Jose’s Cantina at Sam’s Town, barely two months after the casual Mexican restaurant shuttered at the resort’s indoor, Mystic Falls Park.
Self-described as "modern take on a classic American steakhouse by pairing signature dishes with contemporary options," The Angry Butcher becomes the resort's primary, elevated dining option.
The main restaurant is open nightly from 5 p.m, while the steakhouse also offers a daily 4 to 6 p.m. happy hour service at the bar and out on the patio, featuring dishes such as their $12 "Fat Oysters," $9 "prime rib dip sliders" and $8 "house-made corn dogs" with a "trio of mustards."
On the main menu, familiar favorites like a $26 Steak au Poivere, $18 pork loin chop, $32 7-ounce filet mignon, $34 24-ounce prime rib, their $22 North Atlantic salmon and cold water lobster tails or King crab legs.
Former Billy Bob's Steak House & Saloon executive chef Ruben Saldana is in charge of the new dishes. A 20-year veteran of the resort, Billy Bob’s recently shuttered to make way for another new concept Big Mess Bar-BQ, promised to be arriving "soon." With the departure of Willy & Jose’s, any visitors looking for a quick Mexican food fix can head over to the 24-hour, on-site Roberto's Taco Shop.
