Mt. Everest India’s Cuisine, the Indian restaurant at 3641 W. Sahara Ave., came within two points of being shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District after a routine inspection on Sept. 9.
SNHD inspectors found staff not properly washing their hands, ineffective pest control measures, food unprotected from potential contamination, an inadequate number of hand-washing facilities and more during the 39-demerit visit.
The restaurant last earned a C grade in May. Most grades posted since 2009 were As.
Karizma Lounge, the two-story hookah lounge and cocktail bar at 4850 W. Flamingo Road, was shut own by the health department after a routine inspection on Sept. 10 revealed a pest infestation calling for the immediate closure.
The restaurant earned an A grade on Aug. 13.
The health district conducts unannounced inspections at least once a year. Inspections are posted online about five days after the inspection. The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
