Your newest place for late-night bites comes from the hands of Felix Arellano of Viva Las Arepas fame. Pepito Shack in the parking lot of Dino’s Lounge now serves up South American open-faced hoagies with pork, chicken, fish, beef or veggie fillings, all in the $6.25 to $7.95 range. Hot dogs come in pork or beef with coleslaw, onions, tomatoes, potato strings and sauce. A half-pound burger for $5.95 and side items including French fries and onion rings round out the menu.
Arellano got his start in the space in 2011, moving into his larger bricks-and-mortar space, now with a patio, in 2013. Justin Kingsley Hall’s TBD moved out of the space in May. He plans to work with Brian Howard on Sparrow & Wolf, opening in October in the Arts District.
Since, the Goodwich boys, who took over the space, moved into the Soho Lofts.
Earlier, Viva Las Arepas cryptically announced they would soon be expanding to a second location, but withheld the exact location. Now, the secret is out, with new signage promising they are "opening soon" at the Mercado Del Sol Shopping Plaza, at the southeast corner of Rainbow and Charleston.
