Eagerly awaited by the local vegan community, the first all vegan drive-thru in Las Vegas is almost ready to serve "plant-based fast food."

The brainchild of Kenny Chye, the operator of Veggie House in Chinatown, Vegeway will debut in "soft opening" mode on Sept. 18 at 11 a.m., with a "Grand Opening" a few days later.

Chef Kenny, as he is better known, has taken over the shuttered 1,895-square-foot former Great American Food sandwich shop at the corner of Jones and Robindale Road.

Perfecting his veggie burger for weeks at his popular restaurant, promised for the menu are enough options to make you forget this is a meatless venture.

The burger priced at $4.69 is their go-to choice, adding fries and a drink to create an $8.89 meal. The "Double V Burger" adds a patty. Vegan popcorn chicken is priced at $4.69, with fried zucchini available for $3.79. Vegan versions of fish tacos, chicken wraps and beef Vietnamese bahn mi sandwiches will cost between $5.59 and $6.29.

Malaysian-born Chye has earned a loyal following for Veggie House’s vegetarian spin on Chinese dishes since opening at the intersection of Spring Mountain and Decatur in 2012.
