The long vacant Red Velvet Cafe space at the Fashion Show mall has finally found a new tenant and if you thought there was no more room in Las Vegas for another poke-themed restaurant, think again.
Azusa, California-based GoGo Poke will take over 2,134 square feet of the 4,268-square-foot space. Construction permits have recently been filed, but the aggressively expanding new brand promises they are "coming soon." No structural work is needed for the makeover. Gogo Poke already have specific locations lined up for six California locales, including Los Angeles and Pasadena.
On the menu, Korean-, Japanese- and Hawaiian-inspired bowls that can also be custom designed. The international inspiration allows guests to add a broad range of ingredients, like cooked octopus, bulgogi, chicken teriyaki and glass noodles. In California, prices range from $8.75 for a "regular" size bowl, to $10.75 for the large option. Extras include miso soup and spam musubi.
Red Velvet Cafe debuted at the mall in 2011, featuring vegan and vegetarian menu choices. They ran into local controversy when their advertised low calorie cookies were proven to contain four to six times the stated caloric value.
