First revealed last April, Hatari Restaurant & Sports Bar at the Boulevard Mall has skipped past a few projected opening dates, but is now comfortably predicting it will debut before the end of January.
With a name inspired by the Swahili word for "dangerous," the 6,729-square-foot corner spot will be more than 1,000-square-foot larger than the mall’s only fine dining option, Olivia's Latin Cuisine Bar & Mariscos. Their arrival last May signaled a confident indication of the mall’s ongoing revival.
Featuring a project motto of "live dangerously," Hatari also wants to be known as "the home of the 99 cent draft," but guests will discover plenty of other reasons to visit. Inside, expect more than a dozen TVs tuned to sports, including live streaming of South American and European soccer games.
Hosting two outdoor patios, inside, a large stage has been designed for "live bands, DJ's, live comedy, Karaoke, and more" with each night built around a different theme, from Salsa, to vintage grooves to modern EDM.
On the menu, steak, pasta, seafood, wings, pizza and burgers. Very tentative opening hours hint that Hatari will be serving from 11 a.m. to 4 a.m daily, with a 9 a.m to 2 a.m schedule on Sundays.
