Lasting barely a year at The Boulevard Mall, Olivia’s Mexican Restaurant & Bar was the dining centerpiece of the east-side property before it shuttered in July. The first dedicated restaurant attached to the mall, it served a Latin-inspired seafood menu partly curated by Faviola Trujillo, of local Taco Y Taco Mexican Eatery renown.
Less than a month after the closure, the management behind local dim sum chain ChiAm stepped in and trademarked the name “Olivia's” for future use as a bar and restaurant. That time is coming very quickly, with the mall announcing Mamma Olivia Italian Restaurant and Bar will debut within weeks inside the same 5,318-square-foot space.
The mall reports the signage is already up and the interior almost complete. The original Olivia’s also featured indoor patio seating.
Promised for the new Italian menu, “over 10 salad and appetizer options, 8 signature pizzas as well as build-your-own pizza, 12 freshly made pasta dishes, 12 main course options and 4 specialty/home-made ravioli options as well as 8 side dish options.” Dishes of note include chicken piccata, spaghetti frutti de mare, veal ossobucco and zucca ravioli.
Still to come, ChiAm is also bringing its own 3,543-square-foot fast-casual restaurant to the property. It had earlier hoped to be ready by this summer.
