ARIA — Light smoke coming from the duct work at Jean Georges Steakhouse prompted the Clark County Fire Department to visit the restaurant on Friday, Oct. 13. No fire was found, and no one was injured. [LVRJ]
WAIKIKI — The health department shut down former Top Chef contestant Brian Malarkey’s new Herringbone after at least 45 people became ill after dining at the seafood restaurant last week. Some of those who became ill were confirmed as norovirus, a leading cause of illnesses from contaminated food, and infected employees are a frequent source of the outbreaks. Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea and nausea. Herringbone also has a location at Aria. [Honolulu Advertiser]
BELLAGIO — Executive chef Wilfried Bergerhausen departs Le Cirque after three years at the French restaurant. He has not shared his future plans. The news comes on the heels of Le Cirque in New York City announcing plans to close after New Year’s Eve due to the rising cost of rent. There, the restaurant plans to relocate into smaller space. NEW YORK — Uber-hip streetwear brand Kith partnered with Major Food Group’s Italian-American restaurant Carbone for some new gear. Kith’s founder Ronnie Fieg is apparently good friends with Jeff Zalaznick of Major Food Group, and that friendship led to a series of hoodies and T-shirts emblazoned with the names of Kith and Carbone. Carbone, the super-exclusive and snazzy red sauce restaurant that also has a location at Aria, has also been immortalized in Drake songs. [Eater NY]
