The “over-the-top,” sugar-fueled Sloan’s Ice Cream experience headed to the Strip now has a confirmed location and an updated opening date.
The South Florida-based company first announced plans to expand to Las Vegas four years ago, but it will take an extra month of work before the “ice cream utopia” debuts at the Venetian’s Grand Canal Shoppes.
Taking over 1,545 square feet of vacant space, the dessert and retail store will sit next door to the Horologio watch store and a short walk over a bridge to the resort’s St. Mark's Square. Sloan’s is spending an estimated $300,000 in construction costs to revamp the space ahead of a December debut.
Earlier properties, including locales as far-flung as Palm Beach County, Florida, Kuwait, and California have included “pink walls, twinkling chandeliers, moving trains and magical glass bathrooms.”
Inspired by Willy Wonka levels of excess, the menu features cookies, brownies, candy, homemade fudge, candy apples, milkshakes, and smoothies.
Sloan’s has also achieved social media and TV appearance fame for its elaborate themed sundaes, arriving in a treasure box, a beach sand pail with shovel, a flower pot and “Tracy’s Kitchen Sink,” self-described as the “ultimate sundae with everything including the kitchen sink — 12 scoops of ice cream and all of our toppings, gobs of whipped cream & cherries — all served in a real sink!”
