The build-your-own bowl concept has been given a Mediterranean spin at the locally-owned Hummus Bowls & Wraps, now serving its “balanced lifestyle” dishes at Henderson’s Eastern Hills Center.
Located close to the intersection of Eastern Avenue and Sunridge Heights Parkway, the 1,816-square-foot corner spot was previously home to The Tangerine Cafe. The bright interior includes a video projector running movies onto one of the walls.
Guests choose between a bowl or a pit wrap, then a style of hummus, including "Baba G.," “classic” and “spicy.” Greens like baby spinach or chard are added to grains and then protein choices, including the $7.90 flame grilled chicken, crispy halloumi cheese and vegan falafel, or the $9.70 braised lamb. After a selection of toppings, the sauce options range from garlic sauce to the “bold and tangy hot chilli.” Also available, a gluten free “halloumi hash” and $1.29 pita fries.
Beverages include a range of Stubborn Sodas, plus ”currant thyme,” “cucumber blossom” and “watermelon "mock’ jito" drinks created by the restaurant.
