Fremont East’s Le Thai announced it would be expanding to a second location back in March and has now provided a visual update of the status of construction and the restaurant’s final name.
Once expected to be ready in “three to four months,” the latest photo from inside shows the interior frames and the skeleton of the walls and ceiling. Nevertheless, Le Thai 2-Go is being tagged as “#almostdone” on social media.
Located in the Medical District, inside the Rancho Plaza Shopping Center at the intersection of Charleston Boulevard and Rancho Drive, Le Thai 2-Go is headed back into the exact same space that launched co-owner and chef Dan Coughlin’s early career, the former Mix Zone Cafe.
The original Le Thai arrived in 2011, quickly becoming a downtown fixture for both lunch and dinner crowds and frequently generating lines of patient diners.
Almost three miles to the west, the 1,200-square-foot Le Thai 2-Go will feature the same “eclectic mix of Thai street food with American influences,” but operate as delivery and takeout specialists, with room for up to 18 people sitting at stools or a communal table.
