In a strategic move, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit is making its first expansion into a local mall, with future locations planned and perhaps an eye on the Strip.
The nation's largest barbecue chain dates back to 1941 and its namesake creator Travis Dickey. Already operating three Las Vegas outposts, the fourth is promised to be “coming soon” to the Meadows Mall. It will take over the vacant space next door to Hot Dog On A Stick, on the second level near the food court.
The 39-year-old Vegas shopping institution is owned by General Growth Properties Inc., which also owns the Strip’s Fashion Show mall and the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian.
The Meadows Mall franchise owners are already looking for business partners for a later move into Summerlin.
On the counter service menus, barbecue meats such as “Texas-style chopped beef brisket,” “Southern pulled pork,” “Virginia-style ham and "fall-off-the-bone pork ribs,” all available as meat plates or sandwiches and featuring sides including green beans with bacon, mac and cheese, fried okra and “waffle fries.”
