The fourth of eight locally planned Metro Diner locations is headed to the southeast, with work scheduled to begin on a remodel of a corner site at the Eastern Beltway Center.
Located on Serene Avenue, close to Eastern Avenue, the Jacksonville, Florida-based company has already debuted three diners this year. The southeast location will take over 4,000 square feet of a standalone pad that once housed a salon.
The footprint is larger than its southwest and Spring Valley predecessors and a little smaller than the recently debuted Henderson home that can seat as many as 166 guests. All three diners are open Sunday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and later on Friday and Saturday until 9 p.m.
Anchored by a Walmart, the large retail center hosts a plentiful supply of fast casual neighbors, but no full service rivals.
With everything on the menu priced less than $15 and famed for its all-day breakfast options, Metro Diner favorites include the Yo Hala on the Square, a stuffed challah bread French toast; crab cake Benedict; a meatloaf plate; fried chicken and waffles topped with strawberry butter and sweet-and spicy-sauce; and Charleston shrimp and grits.
