Head to the Mirage for the next Italian restaurant to open in Las Vegas. The resort plans to open Osteria Costa in the former Samba Brazilian Steakhouse space, a restaurant that closed on Aug. 31.
Osteria Costa, opening in February 2018, plans to serve dishes from the Amalfi Coast in southern Italy. The casual approach to Italian fare brings Neopolitan pizzas, handmade pastas, fresh seafood, and house-baked bread.
MGM Resorts executive chef Anthony Amoroso along with Portofino executive chef Michael LaPlaca are behind the menu, at least according to training materials handed out to the staff.
The restaurant, which will be open for dinner daily, plans to feature the bright colors and rustic touches often found in the Amalfi Coast villages. Seaside blues and greens along with plants and furniture with light woods decorate the space.
Customers can see into the open kitchen, while a bar lines one side of the dining room, outfitted with a canopy of linen and chandeliers that resemble umbrellas. Another option, seating around a pizza oven.
At the bar, customers can order limoncello made in house along with cocktails and wines.
Portofino closes next year to make way for this new restaurant.
