The unplanned demise of 24-hour diner Planet Dailies at Planet Hollywood due to water damage has proven to be an unexpected source of luck for the resort. Replacement Café Hollywood has jumped into the space in record time, upgrading the setting, menus and creating an appropriately themed new venue.

Open around the clock and offering take-out options and “The Counter,” featuring a “full array of breakfast goodies and coffee drinks to gelato, decadent desserts and craft sodas,” the 5,828-square-foot space serves as a design tribute to the Planet Hollywood restaurant chain.

A “multimedia celebration” of Planet Hollywood events play on 35 monitors and the walls are decorated with photographs from previous restaurant openings. They have also added a new wine bar and lounge stocked with more than 40 different wine varieties, 24 of them available by-the-glass.

On the voluminous menu, breakfast specials such as the $16 Florentine Benedict, a tall stack of five buttermilk pancakes for $13, $15 huevos rancheros and the “12 oz. grilled NY strip & two fresh eggs,” served with breakfast potatoes and choice of toast priced at $26.

For lunch and dinner, choices include "show bites,” such as the $12 charcuterie plate, a $15 blackened tempura shrimp and the $17 Kobe beef sliders. Plus, sandwiches, burgers, Asian dishes and pastas. For heartier appetites, they offer for $35 either the “black & bleu strip steak,” or a filet mignon and the $40 sesame ginger salmon.

Looking to corner the market as a late-night destination, the separate after hours menu includes the $18 pork belly ramen, a $19 California burrito, plus a large selection of shareable appetizers include Tex-Mex egg rolls, nachos and Buffalo wings.

A main attraction will be the over the top “Supernova Shakes,” also found at Planet Holywood restaurants, including the $16 “Strawberry Big Bang,” hand-dipped strawberry milkshake with sprinkles and topped off with a slice of birthday cake.
