NEW YORK CITY — Las Vegas no longer lays claim to the only U.S. restaurants from superstar chef Joël Robuchon. He debuted his tasting counter L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, as well as a his more casual Le Bar de Joël Robuchon, in the Meatpacking District last week. The chef with 31 Michelin stars at his restaurant worldwide still has a nine-course tasting menu clocking in at less than $300 including tip, plus his a la carte options. The layout includes his counter seating, where diners can watch meals as they’re prepared, similar to his location at the MGM Grand. Unlike his Las Vegas outposts, which includes his eponymous high-end restaurant at the MGM Grand, this location includes Le Bar at the front with an even more casual approach than his workshop. The 56-seat restaurant features croque monsieur, roasted chicken, veal Milanese, and beef filet with peppercorn sauce. [ENY]
BALTIMORE — Giada De Laurentiis expands her empire to the Horseshoe Baltimore when she opens GDL by Giada, a more “casual” and “approachable restaurant than her Giada at The Cromwell. The Caesars Entertainment-owned property already has Guy Fieri’s Baltimore Kitchen + Bar, and celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay plans to open a high-end steak house there as well. Of course, De Laurentiis plans to open Pronto by Giada at Caesars Palace in 2018. [EDC]
