Once hoped to be open back in April, chef Gio Mauro’s latest pizza concept is back on track for an early 2018 debut inside the original home of Nora’s Italian Cuisine.
Pizzeria Monzù is now hiring and promising future employees it will be “introducing a new pizza style to the Las Vegas Valley.” One of three sons of restaurateur Nora and father Gino who made Nora’s such a hit, Mauro took over 4,522-square-foot of the original space after the Italian restaurant moved 900 feet down Flamingo Road into a new purpose-built restaurant last year.
Serving “chef inspired Italian street food,” Pizzeria Monzù will feature a “timeless Italian wine list” and a “full craft cocktail bar.” In an uncommon twist, it will also be hosting “weekly live jazz.”
Mauro already operates the casual counter service Old School Pizzeria in North Las Vegas on Craig Road and is behind the menu of three Dallas locations of Pie Tap Pizza Workshop + Bar from Mooyah co-founder Rich Hicks.
On Flamingo Road, diners can expect “a modern feel that is grounded in Italian roots with energy to fit any occasion.” An exact opening date has yet to be revealed.
