The newest celebrity chef on the scene in Las Vegas now has her face sky high on a billboard on the side of the Venetian. Venezuelan chef Lorena Garcia plans to open Chica in the former DB Brasserie space at the resort this spring.
Garcia joins the ranks of Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken of Border Grill, Giada De Laurentiis at The Cromwell and Christina Tosi at Milk Bar at the Cosmopolitan as some of the most famous female chefs on the Strip. Garcia appeared on season four of Top Chef Masters and was one of the judges and investors on America’s Next Great Restaurants.
Now her face appears 21 feet tall next to other Venetian and Palazzo chefs such as Wolfgang Puck, Thomas Keller, Mario Batali, Buddy "Cake Boss" Valastro and Emeril Lagasse.
Aside from her restaurants at airports in Miami, Atlanta and Dallas, Garcia published her first cookbook, Lorena Garcia’s New Latin Classics, and created the Lorena Bella Kitchen Collection for HSN.
Chica, from John Kunkel’s 50 Eggs Inc. that has Yardbird Southern Table & Bar at the resort, plans to serve Latin American cuisine, with influences from Venezuela, Peru, Brazil, Mexico and Argentina, among others. Chica plans to serve lunch, dinner and a weekend brunch.
