In an extremely quick switcheroo, The Urban Lounge will soft open in the Arts District this weekend, ahead of a future grand opening and the addition of a casual menu. The LGBT-friendly corner spot sits adjacent to Charleston Boulevard’s Arts Factory and replaces the recently shuttered Downtown Crown.
Previews of The Urban Lounge makeover suggest the design team has taken the name to heart, filling the space with plenty of comfortable sofas and living room-style seating. For this weekend, opening hours will start at 4 p.m., closing at 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and 1 a.m. on Sunday.
The lounge was originally intended for Main Street’s Corner Building, alongside fellow tenant Tacos Huevos and construction work had begun on both projects. In a surprise move, the Californian quick serve taquéria has now also jumped ship and will eventually be integrated into The Urban Lounge compound. Serving breakfast, brunch and "brinner," the restaurant promises "a unique take on Mexican quick-serve" is "coming soon."
