It’s not everyday you encounter a restaurant specializing in "organic Jamaican cuisine," but chef Ras Jeffrey’s new North Las Vegas restaurant is committed to serving "100% natural ingredients," paired with some authentic recipes.
Formerly known as the Blue Mahoe Jamaican Barbecue food truck on Charleston Boulevard, the House of Manchester Caribbean Grill’s permanent home takes over the shuttered Touch of Aloha Local Kine Grindz on Losee Road, not far from Lake Mead Boulevard.
The compact space has remodeled the room. On the menu find specialties like jerk chicken, ribs, red snapper or wings and a one pound serving of Jamaican oxtail, braised with "carrots, celery and traditional herbs and spices." Fusion dishes include the "Mandeville wagyu pear burger," with Caribbean slaw, avocado and Swiss cheese and the $13.95 smoked brisket tacos.
Sides include plantains, baked macaroni and cheese and "vegan carrots and cabbage." For dessert, they feature vanilla rum cake, a selection of in-house prepared scones and "la petite creme fraiche cheesecake."
