"Where the locals eat," has a new meaning now in Las Vegas. Jacksonville, Florida-based Metro Diner arrives in the city with a menu covering breakfast served all day, lunch and dinner.
Does Metro Diner sound like a familiar name? Back in 2010, the restaurant appeared on Guy Fieri’s Food Network Show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, with chef Mark Davoli making the meatloaf plate ("Diners across the world have to take a lesson on this one," Fieri said on the show), Pittsburgh steak salad ("the new definition of salad"), and Yo Hala on the Square ("worth coming here for," Fieri said). That last dish features challah bread with bananas, cream cheese and berry compote.
Other dishes include fried chicken and waffles topped with house-made strawberry butter, Charleston shrimp and grits with sweet and spicy sauce, biscuits and gravy, chicken pot pie and the Metro pot roast. Kids have their own menu filled with macaroni and cheese and pigs in a blanket.
This is the first of three Metro Diners opening in Las Vegas. Look for future expansions to South Rainbow Boulevard and North Stephanie Street in Henderson.
