Frigid conditions expand to the north end of the Strip when Minus5 Ice Experience expands with a third Las Vegas location this summer. The Venetian side of the Grand Canal Shoppes, near the retail area on the second level becomes home to a 3,000-square-foot bar with a 1,500-square-foot ice attraction kept at a frigid -23 degrees Fahrenheit, or, as the name implies, -5 degrees Celsius.
The space will be filled with more than 100 tons of ice from Canada as well as a much warmer walk-up bar. The ice here is sculpted into everything from the Welcome to Las Vegas sign to the walls, benches, chandeliers and glasses found in the icy confines. Guests don coats before heading into the frozen tundra for chilled beverages.
Parent company M5 Management opened the first ice experience in America in 2008 at Mandalay Place and also has a location in Las Vegas at the Monte Carlo. New York and Orlando also have Minus5 locations.
