East Coast legends Papaya King debuted the "best hot dog in New York since 1932" on the Strip last month and now the West Coast has a chance to flaunt its frankfurter skills.
Dirt Dog brought the "ultimate bacon wrapped hot dog" to Las Vegas last year, opening their first expansion in the southwest’s Rainbow-Shelbourne Plaza, close to The Sparklings restaurant and filling a shuttered Cheeburger Cheeburger outpost.
For its second local home, Dirt Dog is headed to the Grand Bazaar Shops, into Suite 617, located next door to Sin City Brewing and the former home of Jimmy’s Seaside Fries. Now hiring, the Dirt Dog team plans to be up and running by the end of May.
This rear section of the Grand Bazaar Shops, closest to the Bally's resort entrance, hosts other recent arrivals Born & Raised Craft Pub and Redneck Riviera and is a short walk from the under construction Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken from Eric and Bruce Bromberg.
Launched near the campus of USC in 2014, Dirt Dog spins variations on their house specialty, made with "100% premium all beef Nathan's 5/1 dog, wrapped in center cut bacon, topped with grilled onions & red and green bell peppers."
Sides include grilled "dirty corn," crowned with crema, Cotija cheese, cilantro, bacon bits and chili powder, served with a slice of lime. They also serve Las Vegas street food favorites, fried Twinkies and Oreos and via social media have been hinting they will be adding a "new taco menu."
