New York and L.A.’s The Otheroom to the Strip

A hip new scene will replace La Salsa

It’s the end of the line for La Salsa at the Forum Shops at Caesars. Occupying a prime piece of real estate on the ground floor, southern end of the upscale mall since 2007, the casual Mexican restaurant also took full advantage of its Strip-adjacent outdoor patio to lure in thirsty tourists. This stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard is undergoing a long-planned revamp of the pedestrian walkway and part of the upgrades is importing a much hipper replacement for La Salsa.

Craig Weiss’s concept The Otheroom will take over the site, expanding his bi-coastal, very successful spin on an urban wine bar, where customers can experience "specialty and craft beer, wine and champagne while listening to eclectic beats."

The remodel on the 3,354-square-foot space has been allotted an estimated construction budget of $350,000. The patio will retain much of its same design, adding new railings and a canopy.

While The Otheroom operates in South Beach, Florida, and California’s Echo Park and Venice Beach, early social media for the Las Vegas expansion has chosen to use photographs of the Tribeca, New York, location. That much smaller, 750-square-feet bar is described as a "local hang out and perfect date spot," serving a changing and curated menu of microbrews and global wine selections, but no elaborate cocktails.

Not known for food options, the Strip home is currently hiring for kitchen staff and all other positions. A projected opening date has yet to be announced.
