Chess House Cafe Debuts in Northwest Las Vegas

Cappuccino and chess lessons are officially on the menu as Chess House Café finally debuts a bricks-and-mortar location, following years as a regular presence at farmers' markets and local special events.

The independent operators have taken over a mega-chain Starbucks location and adjoining drive-thru at the Lake Mead Promenade, close to the intersection of Lake Mead Boulevard and Torrey Pines Drive.

Guests can sit inside, or out on the patio and take advantage of a couple of freely available chess boards. Beginners classes will be available for customers who sign up for lessons.

On the menu, organic coffee from locals Desert Wind Coffee Roasters, lattes, espressos and macchiatos, "exotic teas," iced drinks like Red Bull infused strawberry, blueberry and raspberry options, or passion ice tea and their own creation of "Southern lemonade."

Light "bites" include wraps, salads, paninis, grilled cheese, hummus and pita chips, cake slices, donuts, cookies, bagels and oatmeal.
