From Hawaii to Tennessee, a flavor switcheroo has taken place at the Tavern Retail Center in the southwest, with the shuttered Braddah's Island Style now home to the southern smoked barbecue of Tennesseasonings.
Taking over the easy to find corner spot at the intersection of Warm Springs Road and Tenaya Way, chef Michael Harris and his co-owner wife Laura are Tennessee natives, who have dedicated their barbecue skills to slow smoked pork and chicken and created a roster of authentic Southern sides.
Open Tuesday to Saturday from noon to 8 p.m., the comfort food menu features “meat and veg combos” and desserts such as Key lime pie and banana pudding.
The “everyday” meat selection features smoked pork shoulder and chicken and baby back ribs. A half rack is available for $16.75 and a full rack upgrade costs $22.25.
“Alternating specials” that are not served everyday include “peg leg smoked chicken,” sausage links, ham, bologna and turkey breast. The sides include macaroni and cheese, “country coleslaw,” white cabbage, greens, and “Laura's BBQ baked beans.”
