Promising they are are “not just sitting on this property — we are actively rebuilding it," a 53-year-old tavern space on Fremont Street hasn’t given up its two-year old dream to transform into the Epic Jazz & Blues Club.

Located inside the former Odyssey Tavern and sharing the same building with the 32-year old Odyssey Pizza, the jazz club will be seeking permission from the Las Vegas City Council to grant another “Extension of Time” to bring its plans up to speed next month.

The 3,200-square-foot project will be overseen by Nieesha Beard and Keisha McDaniel. A skeptical planning department has noted that despite the claims, its “staff was unable to find issued permits for any improvements or repairs.” But the building owners are confident this will be the year the music plays, explaining the new tenants have already purchased a restricted tavern license and are buoyed by positive feedback, even citing a 2015 Eater Vegas article announcing the future club as proof of local support.

Odyssey Pizza would be unaffected by any future changes and continues its under the radar, very loyal local following for its wings, stromboli, sandwiches and bargain-priced pizza.
