Come June 30, Las Vegas will be home to its first robot bar. Tipsy Robot plans to open at the Miracle Mile Shops, bringing “Galactic Ambassadors” who will create custom cocktails previously only found on the Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas cruise liner.
Two robots man the bar, each with the capability to pour 120 drinks per hour at its “Bionic Bar.” Francesco Lafranconi of Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits created the cocktail menu here, ordered on iPads with an estimated time of arrival noted. Each beverage takes between 70 and 90 seconds to create. Customers can order any kind of cocktail, and the robot arms mimic the movements bartenders make, stirring, shaking and mixing concoctions and adding garnishes.
The other side of the bar features human bartenders for less motorized interactions.
The bar promises a “high-tech” look with metal mesh and corrugated steel. “Otherworldly cosmic-inspired video” streams on the bar’s nine big screens. A live social media wall and photo booth round out the accoutrements.
Tipsy Robot will be open 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to midnight on weekends.
