The biggest restaurant debut of July, if not the whole summer, just got an opening date. Celebrity chef Robert Irvine is behind the new dining anchor of the Tropicana Las Vegas, under construction on the northern side of the casino floor, including part of the former sports book.

Still under wraps, the updated plywood for Robert Irvine’s Public House now promises the 260-seat “upscale tavern” is “arriving 7.27.17.” A recent charity auction to join the chef at the “Grand Opening” also advised bidders of a July 27 debut.

The Food Network TV star and host of the syndicated talk show, The Robert Irvine Show, chose the “Public House” name "not for the ale, but because I want to invite people to enjoy the entertainment, enjoy the food and it’s about people." Back in April, Irvine explained the "eclectic menu comes from my travels around the world" and will include his personal spins on "comfort food." He also teased the menu will feature five to six “unique dishes.”

Irvine has repeatedly promised he would be a frequent return visitor to Las Vegas, acknowledging "the success of the restaurant depends on me being here."
