California-based chain Gen Korean BBQ House debuted at Henderson’s Galleria at Sunset mall in 2015, becoming a popular destination for diners opting not to travel to Spring Mountain Road for a grill-at-the-table fix.

Gen Korean is now expanding to the shuttered former home of sushi bar The Kitchen Gangnam at the Sahara Decatur Plaza, named after the interaction a short distance to the west.

The parent company already operates 18 Southern California locations and locally debuted H2O Poke & Sushi Burrito at Harmon Square earlier this year and is currently building H2O Sushi & Izakaya at The Hughes Center, a short walk from Bandito Latin Kitchen & Cantina.

The Gen Korean expansion will take over a 6,500-square-foot space and has allocated an estimated $263,905 in construction costs to completely renovate the interior.

The Henderson branch is open daily from 11 a.m. to midnight. On the menu, all-you-can-eat lunch and dinner choices, featuring adventurous and less familiar ingredients including “marinated bovine small intestine, “pork jowl meat,” beef tongue, “KFC" Korean fried chicken, “spicy baby octopus,” pork bulgogi and cheese pork cutlet.

The move has yet to be announced and an estimated completion date has not been revealed.
