Anyone who lives or works just south of McCarran International Airport will soon have a local success story bringing some “authentic Mexican food” to the neighborhood. Habaneros Taco Grill is working on its third local outpost to slot into the former home of the Spicy Pickle, at the corner of Warm Springs Road and Amigo Street.

The industrial center space has been vacant since the sandwich shop shuttered in April 2016, halting franchise hopes for Las Vegas. Habaneros Taco Grill already has a strong following at its other two locations, the Spring Valley original on Fort Apache that debuted in 2015 and a second site on the eastside's Rainbow Boulevard. Another expansion arrived in Reno earlier this year.

Looking to target office workers and capitalize on the lack of similar ventures in the immediate area, the fast casual restaurant will be open from 7 a.m. to midnight. There will be no patio, or alcoholic beverages, but Habaneros does offer a selection of aguas frescas and Mexican sodas.

On the menu, more than 100 familiar choices, including combination plate deals, burritos, chimichangas, enchiladas, tacos, huaraches and sopes.

An estimated opening date has yet to be announced, but is promised to be “coming soon.”
