Henderson continues a steady series of upgrades across the length of Water Street and new arrival Public Works Coffee Bar has already begun to find its place within the local community. Located inside the Southend on Water development, shared with Tate Snyder Kimsey Architects, the casual space with a dog friendly patio now serves espressos, coffee, tea and blended drinks, plus wine and beer.
For diners, Public Works turned to two local favorites for sweet and savory options, receiving daily deliveries from Chef Flemming's Bake Shop and The Mad Batter Café & Bakery.
The industrial, open-plan concept sits next door to a “community room,” planned to act as a gallery promoting local artists.
On the menu, a full range of teas and coffees, including “pour overs,” “French Press” and cortados, ranging in price from $2.75 to $5, plus cold beverages and specialty choices like the $4.50 Snickers, Tres Leches, “Cuban Honey” or “Turmeric Chai” range of lattes. Guest can also opt for Joseph James and Lovelady Hop draft beers, wines from New Zealand, Chile, California, Italy and Argentina and a number of sparkling options.
The evolving food choices include “spinach feta or bacon, caramelized onions and Havarti quiches,” salads, quinoa bowls, “spicy croissant sandwiches” and a full range of pastries.
